Adobe Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom:

Well I'm so excited I finally got Adobe Lightroom. An awesome program that helps you edit photos. It's actually software for professionals. NOT that that's me, but I've had a lot of fun playing with the trial. I was very frustrated with Adobe tho and they lost the sale from me. I was attempting to get the educational discount and I understand that they need documentation BUT since we homeschool and didnt have what the wanted, I had to request stuff from the school and wait. In the meantime, I found this great online software discount distributor and ended up purchasing from them . They needed the name of the kids' school but that was it! Sooo yay.., Can't wait to play! Here's link to store (great CS)

Newest LO, Chef Alex :)

Well this is a super busy week and I HATE it cause it means scrapping takes a back seat. Hopefully this weekend, I'll get in a few new LO's. This is a LO of Alex cooking. He loves to cook and of late, his fav TV shows are Emeril and Rachel Ray! Love it. He comes to me and recommends recipes for us to fix :) Kit is from On Designs and is kit 14.. just a few other elements in there besides the main kit..

This is the Logo for the Cards for Lois campaign.. it's unfortunately not working for me to add permanently to my blog... Anyway, please email the gal below (message below) if you can!

Cards for a Cause! (PLEASE READ)

I was linked to a wonderful blog today of a great lady who is hoping to get cards made for her good friend who is battling Cancer. Something NOONE should have to deal with! The sick young woman is just 40 and has 4 children! I can only imagine! Even if you dont make your card, any card with your thoughts, hopes, uplifting message, will certainly be appreciated! PLEASE help if you can.....

Here's the link to the blog where this is discussed:

a Few NEW LO'S

Finally able to post those Baby Announcements I did for a friend! Isnt he just a total DOLL!!! :)?

Also finished a new LO using some new techniques for me... using all those blending tools I've never quite known what to do with :) I'm not sure I like how it came out, and sure wish I had Lightroom so I could have adjusted the color on smaller photos better but all in all it was fun to try some new stuff! Also some new products (Ephemerals) from Jofia Devoe!
Love her stuff!

NOTE TO SELF: Learn thy Camera!!

UGHHHHH!! I'm such a dork! The Tour de CA bike race goes right past our house. Mondays are therapy days but thought we'd be home in plenty of time and knew we were ok based on the folks camped out to get pics once we were on our way home. I told the kids I'd run in get my camera and we'd go somewhere to watch. I can't begin to imagine the money that goes into one of these things cause they close the road (we're on CA coastal Hwy 1 and this race was from Sausolito to Santa Rosa) and there were no fewer than 50 CHP's, 2 Paramedic/ambulances, and about 50 media motorcycles. Sooo we hear the cheering and I'm all ready - NOT that big a deal - not like we had friends racing but I love any opportunity to take cool photos. The first rider comes around and he's by himeself (what?.. yep.. we're at about the 60th mile and somehow this muscle man (they're all soooo built - am I allowed to say that here Smiley).....pulled ahead of the pack by 11 minutes.. I shoot a ton of photos. I have the Canon Rebel and wanted to play with my action setting. Soo i get a ton of photos of Mr. built guy (have no clue who he is... yep I'm pathetic, probably should at least know the name of the guy I'm photographing.. I'll find out in papers tomorrow!).. AND then I get the message "CF card full".. UGH.. why does this always happen at the most important of moments? Soooo since I have 10 minutes between leader and pack (announced on loud speaker of CHP as he passed volunteer at intersection check point we were at), I delete a ton of photos.. I probably should have run home for another camera! In meantime I somehow hit timer sooo when the pack came around (the pics I wanted).. my timer paused for 10 seconds and I got great shots of the support crew following the riders! UGH, UGH, AND DOUBLE UGH!!.... Share just to say, be prepared.. If it's an event you need great shots of.. bring back up cards, read your manual, delete before you go! AGAIN, no big deal for me picture wise but once I was committed to getting some good pics I was sooo ticked it didnt work. I will say my action setting worked quite well (I think)..So one nice accomplishment!

New Name and Header

I asked the gals over at CKMB to help me re-name my blog! Offered a small prize for the person who came up with the name I ultimately used! I'm terrible at coming up with names! They all had such great suggestions..! A special thanks to Jingle for the name I ended up using: "Scraps of Time." I liked this for several reasons: its simplicity but also because my other hobby when not scrapping is sewing and mostly quilting. So I felt it fit in many ways :) Jingle will get your RAK out early this week - THANK you sooooo much! :)

The Header NEEDS major work, but hey, I'd rather be spending my time scrapping so I havent fixed.. just wanted to get the new name up and running.

I've been working on announcement LO's for my friend and have done 4. I'm fairly pleased but soo wish I had more skills in PSE! There are other things I had high hopes of trying and still may.. Gotta get over to one of the message boards and see if I can get some help. The designs were somewhat of a challenge cause my friends' camera was set to a very low resolution for many of her first pics of her son. Of course want to make sure this prints well, so have been playing with different design options that will do just that!

Since I can't post pics of the LO's just yet....thought I'd post some quilt pics.... I did an "I Spy" for Andrew (my first time attempting to strip in flannel which was a def challenge) and did a set of quilts for a brother/sister recently. The little boy has had some health challenges (which fortunately seem to be under control now).. and this was a quilt where many folks contributed fabric - kind of like a "Good Wishes quilt".....Hopefully more LO's soon! :)

Latest Quickie Layout!

Well I'm def in minimizing mode (from my normal, layering with a ton of embellis one)... We had some beautiful weather the last few days and got some great shots of the kids. I probably should have run this photo thru Adobe Lightroom and done some adjusting, but didnt take the time. Maybe I'll go back later...What do you think?

My Latest LO:

Sorry it's been so long.. My favorite Kitty (is it ok to have Favs where animals are concerned?) has been super sick and has lost a bunch of weight. He's a Maine Coon and is down to just 12 lbs ... literally skin and bones so the latter portion of this week, I've been kind of stressed and doing everything to get him to eat. Long story, but lab tests back today indicate that at least it doesnt look like he's dealing with diabetes or renal failure (def good news).. a tumor is still a possibility but saying major prayers that's not it. BUT attempting to get him fed small portions every hour or so has been taking a ton of time.....He's just my animal soul mate and I love him sooo much, thus... the absence of late....

Sooo today, with a little lift with some good news.. AND after surfing around as I was actually looking at some of his kitten pics, I found a very old digi pic of my dd (around 10 mo... pathetic cause I'm not exactly sure how old she was but pretty sure I'm right within a month or so).. Anyway, I had fun today, doing this layout. Ultimately I need to scan a hard copy as the photo is just a couple hundred kb but it worked well for placement!

Was honored to be asked to do a baby announcement by a great cyber friend who returned a few days ago from Guatemala with her son. Sooo, working on that as well right now! This baby boy is to die for gorgeous! I sure hope the announcement is as gorgeous as he! (probably not, but ... :) )

New Blog!

New Blog, for Creative Outlet!

Well I decided to move my scrapping stuff to a new blog! Wanted to keep our family stuff on one but post my scrap-booking antics over here! Of course there will be some pics of the kiddos with the layouts!

I'll re-post some of my most recent digi layouts! I had kind of lost my digi groove but seemed to find it thanks to Jofia Devoe (LOVE her new kit) and did a few quickie layouts - one for Ellie and one for Andrew - two very different looks/one kit! LOVE that diversity!

And yesterday purchased Christina Renee's Kit Lil' Fan Fair and did a layout of my oldest - yep... discussing how time has just gone by WAY too quickly~!! The First Bday, Korean kit is from Helena Jole who spent many years in Korea and has put together an awesome first bday kit!

OK so here they are!
